No idea what to add or upgrade? Take a look at your headboard. You might want to have a new one that can be done easily. Yes, a DIY headboard.
It’s made of reclaimed wood! Totally not an expensive project. Let’s get it started, shall we?
Bedroom DIY Projects – Add This Wonderful Headboard To Your Bedroom!
Make your room unique courtesy of your headboard
Sure, there are ready made headboards you can just buy. But don’t you like to have your personal touch on something you will add to your personal space? Not to mention that it is a wonderful piece you are adding. A unique DIY headboard, no less. Make sure you have your tools and supplies ready for this cool DIY.
Supplies:
- Plywood (4 ft x 4 ft)
- Reclaimed Wood
- 2″ nails
- Drill bit
- Metal plates
- Screws
- Spray paint
- Wood Finish (Ebony Stain)
- Roller
Tools:
- Pneumatic Air Nail Gun/Hammer
- Drill
- Sander
- Saw
Steps:
1. Stain the plywood backing.
Using a roller, spread the wood finish all over the plywood. Wipe off the excess finish.
2. Design the layout of the wood.
Since the reclaimed wood are of varying sizes, design how your headboard will look like.
3. Cut the wood according to your layout design.
Mark the wood according to your design and cut it.
4. Sand the wood.
Sand the wood so that the splinters will be removed. You don’t want to get your hair or pillow snagged.
5. Stain the raw cut ends and edges of the wood.
Spray color into the reclaimed wood and add stain for a darker effect. Do this for all the boards.
6. Nail the finished boards to the plywood backing.
Nail the boards according to your design to the plywood backing.
7. Attach the metal plates
Attach the metal plates at the back of the boards that are warped. Do this as needed.
8. Mount the headboard!
You can attach it to the bedframe, or hang it on the wall.
