Reading up on Domino’s shopping guides is like having your own personal product concierge. We do the tedious part—deep-dive research, hands-on testing, and tapping experts for advice—so all you have to do is hit ‘add to cart.’ That’s why we call them Simply the Best.
Nobody gets out of doing dishes. Handwashing is inevitable, but dishwashers help with the load, ideally without leaving streaks on your plates or using up too much water or energy. Whether it’s a top rack of wine glasses from last night’s soiree, a gaggle of stainless steel pots and pans after family meals, or ceramic coffee mugs and bowls from hosting guests, there’s always a need for a little extra help when washing up.
If you’ve done even cursory research into dishwashers, there is one brand name you’ve likely seen repeated multiple times: Bosch. From their affordable 100 Series all the way to their top-of-the-line Benchmark, these machines are known for their durability, performance, and sleek exteriors. But, if you’ve done a bit more digging, you’ve probably found that there are many different models to choose from. And while the best Bosch dishwasher is different for every home, we’ve done the first step for you, whittling the list down to our top five. Each of these machines is best in its category—from value to splurge—but all share top-quality Bosch features like multiple cycle options, extra-dry dishes, and clever racks that fit all of your dinner party dishes.
Our Favorites
- Best overall: Bosch 300 Series 24-inch
- Best value: Bosch 100 Series 24-inch
- Best splurge: Bosch 800 Series 24-inch
- Best quiet: Bosch Benchmark Series 24-inch
- Best for small kitchens: Bosch 800 Series ADA 18-inch
Best Overall: Bosch 300 Series 24-inch
Width: 24 inches | Panel-ready: Yes | Noise: 44 dBA | Place settings: 16
What we like:
- Option for front or top control panel
- Taller tub than the average dishwasher
- Foldable tines to fit more plates
Worth noting:
- No WiFi
Why we chose it: A powerful machine with room for up to 16 place settings, all at under $1,000.
As the Goldilocks product on Bosch’s roster, the 300 Series is neither their entry-level model, nor their priciest, but it certainly has all of the fundamental features you want in a high-performing dishwasher. First off: even though it’s a standard 24 inches wide, the tub is taller than average, which means you can fit more dishes in a single load (and save water!). It’s also cleverly designed to accommodate three racks, which makes loading less stressful and unloading that much easier. We especially love the shape of the third rack– the V-shape design allows the second rack to still fit wine glasses on the sides.
As for performance: this model has five different cycles, making it simple to pick a wash time that best suits your dish load. Have house guests arriving in an hour? We particularly love its speedy 60-minute clean and sanitize option which uses a higher temp to eliminate 99.9 percent of bacteria and get your dishes drier, faster.
Best Value: Bosch 100 Series 24-inch
Width: 24 inches | Panel-ready: Yes | Noise: 48 – 50 dBA | Place settings: 14
What we like:
- Six different wash cycles
- Three, six, and nine-hour delay start timer
- Overflow leak protection
Worth noting:
- No third rack
Why we chose it: Bosch-quality power at a price that’s very budget-friendly.
Bosch’s entry-level 100 Series maybe it’s the most affordable, but that doesn’t mean it lacks impressive features. Similar to other higher-end series, this model has cleverly designed racks, which can fit a total of 14 place settings, plus a removable silverware basket that can be placed anywhere inside the machine, depending on your cleaning needs. We also love that it comes in black, white, and a particularly sleek anti-fingerprint stainless steel (so you don’t have to be spritzing Windex on the regular).
With six different wash cycles including a delicate wash for china and an express wash for a quick clean, there’s a lot to work with. And like some more expensive models, you can also set the temperature to sanitize for extra-clean dishes.
Best Splurge: Bosch 800 Series 24-inch
Width: 24 inches | Panel-Ready: Yes | Noise: 42 dBA| Place Settings: 16
What we like:
- CrystalDry technology gets dishes incredibly dry
- Machine projects a red light onto the floor when it’s in use
- Tines fold back to fit larger items
Worth noting:
- No child lock
Why we chose it: A luxury machine with smart sensors to detect even small food particles.
This Bosch dishwasher is pretty darn hard to beat: it fits up to 16 place settings, is so quiet it’s nearly undetectable, and it has adjustable racks (including a third rack). Similar to the 300 Series, its third rack is V-shaped too, which is roomy enough to fit plenty of silverware as well as bigger items like teacups. Smart sensors continually scan your dishes for grease, food, and gunk, throughout every cycle to blast it away for super-clean results. With features on its side like CrystalDry, it also leaves all of your cups and plates completely dry (even trickier plastic ones)—say goodbye to that post-dishwasher towel.
And it’s just as much of a showpiece on the outside, too. The 800 Series is complete with a sleek stainless steel exterior and single bar handle, a minimalist control panel hidden out of the way on top of the door, and easy-to-read buttons for its six wash cycles. And finally, we especially love the InfoLight, which shines a small, red light onto the floor while the machine is in use. When it turns off, you know your dishes are done (and you’ll never have to worry about opening up the machine while it’s still running!).
Most Quiet: Bosch Benchmark Series 24-inch
Width: 24 inches | Panel-ready: Yes | Noise: 38 dBA| Place settings: 15
What we like:
- One of the quietest dishwashers on the market
- Seven wash cycles
- Telescopic glides on the racks
Worth noting:
- The most expensive type of dishwasher Bosch makes
Why we chose it: A whisper-quiet machine that is also Bosch’s top-tier model.
While the noise level of a dishwasher might not be your first priority when shopping, you might rethink its importance if you’ve ever had a clunker of a machine that wheezed its way through a cycle. There are several reasons you may want to invest in the Benchmark Series, but its near silence is perhaps the most impressive. It clocks in at around 38 dB, which, for reference, is about 2 dBs quieter than a library. Simply put: you’ll never know it’s on. But, similar to some of Bosch’s other models, the Benchmark is also equipped with a red light that shines on the floor while it’s in use; so even if you can’t hear it, you’ll see that it’s going through its paces.
Other features of this premier model that we love include a minimalist stainless steel exterior; seven wash cycles including a delicate setting for glass, and seven other controls including an extra scrub, and extra dry. This is also the only Bosch model that is equipped with both a water softener and an interior light.
Best for Small Kitchens: Bosch 800 Series ADA 18-inch
Width: 18 inches | Panel-ready: Yes | Noise: 44 dBA| Place settings: 10
What we like:
- Slimmer designer for small kitchens
- Still includes a third rack
- Can connect to a smartphone
Worth noting:
- Shorter than other models
Why we chose it: A smaller model for petite kitchens that still holds 10-place settings.
Perfect for tiny kitchens with only nooks and corners to squeeze in a dishwasher is this pick. Just because this model is a touch smaller than others doesn’t mean you’ll have trouble fitting in a full load of dirty dishes. The machine can still handle a full 10-place setting across three racks, and with the brand’s RackMatic system, there are nine different rack positions for the customizable loading of dishes, pots, and pans.
Aside from its smart use of space, this dishwasher also boasts many of Bosch’s most loved features, including five wash cycles, WiFi capability, and a delay start timer of up to 24 hours.
How We Chose These Products
To whittle down our list of the best Bosch dishwashers, we tapped the expertise of Domino’s appliance-loving staff, interviewed Jessica Petrino, educator and appliance expert at (one of our favorite stores) AJ Madison, researched the full line of Bosch’s models, and read many customer reviews. The five dishwashers that we ultimately chose represent a range of price options and features, but all have high marks on durability, user-friendliness, design, and –most important– powerful dishwashing capabilities.
Our Shopping Checklist
Design
Because Bosch has a wide range of models, there is a design that can suit nearly every type of kitchen aesthetic. Size-wise, the most common width is 24”, but there are also slimmer 18” models available for smaller kitchens. All series from 300 and up (and even some 100 Series) have a third rack, which is a wonderful space saver.
When it comes to exterior design: for almost all models, you can opt for exterior display panels or have them located on the top of the dishwasher door. About half (some 100 Series, and all 300, 800, and Benchmark Series) can accept custom panels, which allows the machine to essentially disappear into your kitchen cabinetry.
For the interior features, it’s no surprise that the higher the tier, the more bells and whistles there are. If you want the quietest machine, opt for a Benchmark (see more details above). And for the driest possible dishes, purchase an 800 Series or above, which uses the brand’s patented Crystal Dry technology.
Capacity
“Dishwasher capacity is measured by ‘place setting,’” Petrino explains. “Bosch dishwashers accommodate 10-16 place settings depending on the model. But since most people don’t actually load their dishwashers by place setting, this measurement is irrelevant. My best advice is to consider the items you normally place in your dishwasher and look at the dishwasher racks. Several Bosch models feature adjustable tines to accommodate deeper bowls, pots, pans, and tall items.” If in doubt, visit a showroom and bring a few clean plates to try the display models.
Performance
Regardless of the series, “all Bosch dishwashers are going to perform well,” says Petrino. But one of her favorite features is a special turbidity sensor that can detect food particles on your plates. “Essentially, the dishwasher will run until your dishes are clean,” she adds. She also cites Bosch’s specific cycles, such as sanitize, heavy, and quick cycle options, are key performance features of the brand.
Energy Efficiency
Bosch models do not disappoint here, either: “All Bosch dishwashers are energy efficient,” says Petrino. “And all products that have an Energy Star label will ship with an energy guide label that provides more information about the estimated annual operating cost. On average, Bosch dishwashers use 3-5 gallons of water per cycle which is far more efficient than washing dishes by hand.”
Care & Maintenance
While these machines don’t need a lot of fussing over, Petrino recommends two tips to keep your dishwasher in top shape. “Every few days, check the filter located on the floor of your dishwasher,” she advises. “Although most gunk gets flushed out at the end of the cycle, it’s a good idea to rinse out this filter from any spinach leaves or coffee beans that may get stuck over time. You will also want to add rinse aid liquid to your dishwasher periodically for optimal drying results.”
Ask Domino
Q: What types of dishes shouldn’t go in a dishwasher?
A: “If your dishes are marked dishwasher safe, then they should be fine in a Bosch dishwasher,” says Petrino. “I don’t recommend washing heirloom China, silver, or any valuables in your dishwasher. Though personally, my Bosch dishwasher has never broken glass or plate.” That said, if you’re uneasy about a glass breaking, grab your sponge, and wash it by hand instead.
Q: Can wine glasses be cleaned in a dishwasher?
A: “Most wine glasses can be cleaned in a dishwasher,” Petrino notes. “Carefully review the label of your wine glasses. If the label says dishwasher-safe they should be fine. Plus, many Bosch dishwashers have an accessory that secures wine glass stems in place.”
Q: Can you leave clean dishes in the dishwasher overnight?
A: The short answer? Yes. “Bosch dishwashers have a stainless-steel interior which is both bacteria and odor resistant,” says Petrino. “It is probably better to take your dishes out of the dishwasher at the end of the cycle, however, I leave mine in there all the time.” But if you’d rather empty your dishwasher as soon as they’re done, “you can always use the delay start option, so that your dishwasher starts a cycle at 5 am, for example, and then your dishes are freshly clean when you wake up.”
Q: Should a dishwasher door be left open to dry dishes?
A: “There’s a lot of debate about leaving the door open at the end of the cycle,” notes Petrino. “Many luxury brands claim that an open door at the end of the cycle is best for releasing hot air and moisture from the machine. While it’s never a good idea to artificially open the door at the end of the cycle, there are Bosch models that offer this as a feature to improve the condensation drying process.” And with Bosch, the more high-end the series, the better the drying capability. “Bosch 800 Series and Benchmark Series models feature Bosch’s most sophisticated drying technology,” she adds. “They use the innovative CrystalDry technology, which uses a mineral compound to heat the air surrounding your dishes for great drying performance.”
The Last Word
Because Bosch is such a trusted name in the industry, you can’t go wrong with any model, from their entry-level 100 Series to the ultra-luxe Benchmark. But, if you’re looking for a dishwasher that will tackle the largest amount of dirty dishes with ease while still being affordable, our top pick is the 300 Series in a 24-inch size.
